Comedy is becoming a rare commodity in Europe and the UK, especially satirical and dark humor, and here is a key example why: Markus Meechan, 28, was arrested by Scottish Police this week for making a joke video, in which his girlfriend’s dog was portrayed as a Nazi. The arguably cute and funny video was thumbed up over 18,000 times with only a hand full of down votes on Youtube. Majority of the viewers thought that the video was funny, as it is clearly not malicious in nature.
All it took was a small contingent of outraged individuals to seek and carry out this undeserved punishment, for something that is so tame it resembles parody. The official statement on the arrest, lists this incident as a “warning” to all those would be jokesters who may joke in a similar matter. On Paul Joseph Watson video covering the upsetting ordeal, users were left stunned. Youtube user TheExclusiveMan stated:
[…]the world of 1984 is becoming a reality.
Thousands of people mirrored that statement, stating their outrage at such a ludicrous arrest, but the UK is no stranger to this type of human rights violation, and let us be clear, that this does constitutes as just that.
John Cleese recently stated “If people can’t control their own emotions, then they have to start trying to control other people’s behavior.” Which is abundantly clear by the continued witch hunts innocent people have to go through, perpetuated by a government so afraid they will not prosecute known child sex slavery rings for fear of being perceived as racist.
It is unimaginably scary to think a western nation is becoming an Orwellian police state, turning people into the equivalent of talebearing speech narks, its even worse when you see college students fighting for it it happen.
